Ukraine vs Finland Prediction & Betting Tip

Ukraine vs Finland predictions for Saturday night’s World Cup qualifier in Odessa. Finland look for their first win of the qualifying campaign when they visit Ukraine.

Ukraine vs Finland
When: 12.11.2016, 19:45
Where: Stadion Chornomorets
Prediction: Ukraine -1.50 Asian Handicap at 21/20 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Ukraine to Win 3-0 at 13/2 with bet365

Ukraine managed to get their first World Cup qualifying win last time out when they comfortably beat the newly approved Kosovo 3-0 at home. This followed on from back to back draws against Iceland and Turkey to put them 3rd in the group, but with it being such a wide open group they will have to up the pace if they want to make it to Russia 2018.

Croatia are the favourites for automatic qualification, but Iceland, Ukraine, and Turkey will all battle it out for the potential playoff spot of 2nd, and at the moment Ukraine are lagging two points behind 2nd placed Iceland.

In fairness to them, they are still unbeaten after three games in qualifying, which is a much better showing than they managed in Euro 2016. The absence of Andriy Yarmolenko severely thwarted their attacking plans and they ended up losing all three group games and scoring none. Now that he’s back they have scored six in three, with Yarmolenko himself netting three of them. Backing him to score anytime at 20/21 could prove a very good investment.

The hosts should get a fair amount of chances as well considering Finland’s current form and overall ability. They have lost two of their opening three matches and only managed a point at home against Kosovo in the other one. This makes it 12 matches without a win for them, eight of which they have lost.

Away from home they have lost five and drawn two of their last seven games, conceding 16 goals and scoring four at the other end. Ukraine have scored 14 in their last eight home games as well, so Finland are expected to be in for a tough evening on Saturday.

Four of Ukraine’s last eight at home have seen them win by at least a two goal margin, and Finland have lost by two or more in four of their last six on the road too. All things considered I think this should be a fairly comfortable win for Ukraine, and odds of 2.075 for a Ukraine -1.5 Asian Handicap Win are very good value. I’m going for a 3-0 correct score prediction at 13/2 as well.

This will be the first meeting between these two nations.

Ukraine have won 50% of their last eight home games by two goals or more, whilst Finland have lost 67% of their last six on the road by more than one goal.

Shakhtar defender Oleksandr Kucher captains the side, whilst wingers Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka remain the most dangerous attacking players with 41 goals between them. Real Betis striker Roman Zozulya is likely to play up front.
Teemu Pukki is probably the most influential player in the Finland squad, with his nine international goals making him the top scorer as well. Nottingham Forest midfielder Thomas Lam has also been called up, whilst defender Albin Granlund is hoping to make his debut.

Prediction: Ukraine -1.50 Asian Handicap at 21/20 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Ukraine to Win 3-0 at 13/2 with bet365
