Georgia vs Moldova Prediction & Betting Tip

Georgia vs Moldova predictions for Saturday’s World Cup qualifying tie. Moldova hope to get some points on the board in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Georgia vs Moldova
When: 12.11.2016, 17:00
Where: Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena
Prediction: Under 2.5 & Both Teams to Score – No at 4/5 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Georgia to Win 1-0 at 15/4 with bet365

Georgia look like a massively improved side at the moment. They managed to get a rare point in qualifying with a 1-1 draw in Wales, but even before that they looked respectable in narrow defeats to Austria and Republic of Ireland.

This all looks to stem from the confidence they gained from an incredible 1-0 win over Spain before Euro 2016 began. This is still their only win in the last ten matches, but what a win for it to be.

At home Georgia generally perform fairly well too. They have won four of their last ten home games and drawn one of them. Their defeats include narrow losses to the likes of Republic of Ireland, Germany, Ukraine, and Austria, so they are by no means pushovers.

This won’t come as good news to Moldova, who come into this match having lost all three of their qualifying games so far. Wales kicked the campaign off with a 4-0 thrashing of them and then Serbia won 3-0 before a 3-1 loss to Republic of Ireland as well.

Moldova have now lost five in a row since their 1-0 win over Andorra. That away victory is their only win in their last 24 matches as well, and they have lost 18 of them. Away from home they have lost six of their last eight, with a draw and a win coming against Malta and Andorra respectively.

The ball lies firmly in Georgia’s court for this one, and the bookmakers’ odds reflect that. There is value to be had here though. Neither of these teams are particularly high scoring sides, and despite their minnow status Moldova generally avoid hammerings even away from home.

Georgia have a very good back line as well, and they shouldn’t have much of a problem dealing with Moldova’s limited attacking threat. They have kept a clean sheet in three of their last seven matches at home, with most of those matches being against better opposition than Moldova.

Moldova have failed to score in nine of their last 15 on the road as well, so this should be a relatively low scoring match. Backing Under 2.5 Goals and Both Teams Not to Score at 5/6 looks a good value bet, and I’m going for that along with a 1-0 win for Georgia at 15/4.

Moldova have won three, drawn two, and lost one of their last six meetings with Georgia.

Georgia have kept a clean sheet in 43% of their last seven home games and seen fewer than three goals in 57% of them. Moldova have failed to score in 60% of their last 15 away games too.

Reims midfielder Jaba Kankava will captain the Georgia squad, whilst Krasnodar midfielder Tornike Okriashvili is their most dangerous attacking player with eight goals in 33 appearances. Defender Davit Khocholava and midfielder Otar Kiteishvili are hoping to make their debuts.
Defender Alexandru Epureanu is captain for Moldova, and his eight goals in 75 appearances make him the second highest scorer in the squad as well. The highest is striker Igor Bugaiov with nine in 46 games, so him and fellow forward Eugen Sidorenco will prove to be the most dangerous forward thinking players.

Prediction: Under 2.5 & Both Teams to Score – No at 4/5 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Georgia to Win 1-0 at 15/4 with bet365
