Estonia vs Greece Predictions & Betting Tips

Greece hope to maintain their perfect record in this World Cup qualification campaign when they visit Estonia. Our free betting predictions suggest that Greece can continue their good start.

Estonia vs Greece
When: 10th October, 19:45
Where: A. Le Coq Arena
Free Betting Tips: Greece to Win at 8/11 with bet365
Correct Score Predictions: Greece to Win 2-0 at 6/1 with bet365

Estonia managed to get off the mark in this World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday, although it was expected of them as they faced the worst team in the qualifying stages. They beat Gibraltar 4-0, but their quality is still far from being able to challenge for a spot in the World Cup.

They opened the campaign with a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Bosnia-Herzegovina back in September, and their win against Gibraltar is only their second in the last ten matches. The other came against the second worst team in Europe, Andorra.

Their heavy defeat to Bosnia isn’t an isolated incident either. They lost 7-0 to Portugal in the lead up to Euro 2016, so it seems the sturdy defence from Euro 2016 qualifying is absent. They only conceded nine goals in their ten qualifying games, scoring a measly four at the other end to finish 4th in the table.

Greece had a far worse qualifying campaign as they shockingly finished bottom of their group. This was below Faroe Islands and Finland, with their return of six points from ten games being extremely humiliating.

They do seem to have got their act together now though. They kicked the World Cup qualifiers off with a 4-1 thrashing of Gibraltar and continued this on Friday by beating Cyprus 2-0 at home. This made it four wins on the bounce for them, including a win away from home to the Netherlands.

Greece will need this form as well, because World Cup qualification is well within their reach. Belgium are the standout favourites for the automatic qualification of top spot, but Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina will be battling it out for 2nd place, with either of them having the quality to take it and potentially make it through to Russia.

The visitors are in good form at the moment and are facing an Estonia side who have struggled lately. Estonia do have a decent record at home, but the quality of their opposition has to be taken into account. They have hosted Gibraltar, Matla, Latvia, Andorra, Serbia, Norway, St Kitts and Nevis, Georgia, and Switzerland recently, and despite this easy run of games they have still only won four of them.

I’m backing Greece to get their 4th straight away win on Monday, and odds of 8/11 look good value as well. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 6/1 as well.

Head To Head
Greece have won one and drawn one of their two meetings with Estonia, although the last one was back in 2001.

Greece have won three away games in a row and four games in a row home and away.

Team News
Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan is captain and standout player for Estonia, whilst their top scorer is midfielder Konstantin Vassiljev with 22 goals in 91 appearances. Estonia have three outfield players with 100 or more caps under their belts.

Benfica striker Kostas Mitroglou will be the main attacking outlet for Greece, and he proved his worth with a goal on Friday. A host of top names make up the back line – including captain Vasilis Torosidis, Sokratis, Jose Holebas, and Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
