Brazil vs Argentina Prediction & Betting Tip

Brazil vs Argentina predictions for Thursday night’s World Cup qualification clash. Brazil hope to extend their lead at the top of the qualification table with a win over rivals Argentina.

Brazil vs Argentina
When: 10/11/2016, 23:45
Where: Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto
Prediction: Home Win at 11/10 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Brazil to Win 3-1 at 18/1 with bet365

After a dismal Copa America campaign in the summer Brazil seem to have come back stronger than ever. They pretty much put Copa America on the back burner as they focused on their home Olympics, coming away with the gold medal there and going on to win four consecutive World Cup qualifiers.

Their last match saw them beat Venezuela 2-0 away from home, making it 12 goals in their last four games, with them conceding just one at the other end. This continued on from a decent start to the campaign to leave them top of their World Cup qualifying group with 21 points from ten games. Uruguay are just a point behind them though, so they need to keep their form going.

Apart from Brazil’s usual array of world stars, with captain and talisman Neymar being the prime example, they have another talent coming up through the ranks. Gabriel Jesus netted the first goal in their win over Venezuela to take his tally to four goals from four games in a Brazil shirt. The 19 year old is a huge threat when he takes to the field, and he could be a good option for the anytime goalscorer market.

Brazil have been impressing home and away recently, but at home they have a particularly good record. They have won 11 of their last 12 home games and drawn the remaining one. This includes a win over Argentina as well, so the signs aren’t promising for the visitors.

Argentina’s attack is the stuff dreams are made of, but they just can’t seem to make it work as a balanced team. Their 1-0 loss at home to Paraguay last time out made it just one win from their four qualifying games since their Copa America run ended in a final defeat yet again. They have beaten Uruguay, drawn at Venezuela and Peru, and lost to Paraguay.

This isn’t the first time they’ve had trouble in qualifying though, and as such they currently lie outside the qualification zone in 6th position. They have only won five of their last 12 away games as well and haven’t won away to Brazil since 1960.

With the hosts in such good form and Argentina struggling I think the advantage clearly lies with Brazil. Argentina may have a deadly attacking line up, but Brazil are the more well rounded team at the moment with quality throughout the pitch. Backing a Brazil Win at 21/20 looks a good option, as does a 3-1 correct score prediction at 16/1.

Brazil have won three, drawn two, and lost two of their last seven meetings with Argentina.

Brazil have won 92% of their last 12 home games, whilst Argentina have only won 42% of their last 12 on the road.

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro won’t take part due to his ongoing injury problem, but world stars such as Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Willian, Phillip Coutinho, and Neymar are all in the squad. Youngster Gabriel Jesus is hoping to continue his fledgling international career as well, whilst Robert Firmino is also in the squad.
Captain Lionel Messi is in the squad as he looks to add to his 56 international goals, whilst Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain join him to make for a deadly attacking trio. Angel Di Maria, Javier Mascherano, and Ever Banega are other big names in the midfield, whilst Pablo Zabaleta, Nicolas Otamendi, and Martin Demichelis are in the back line.

Prediction: Home Win at 11/10 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Brazil to Win 3-1 at 18/1 with bet365
