Cagliari vs Palermo Prediction & Betting Tip

Cagliari host Palermo in Monday’s late game in Serie A. Can the visitors end their recent awful run?

Cagliari vs Palermo
When: 31.10.2016, 20:00
Where: Stadio Sant’Elia
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals at 7/10 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Cagliari to Win 3-2 at 22/1

Palermo sunk deeper into danger after more disappointment in midweek. They slipped down to 19th in Serie A after a midweek home defeat to Udinese. While they are in serious relegation trouble, Cagliari aren’t too far off them. They sit 15th as things stand, with a seven point gap between them and the bottom three. Can they claim a victory here to keep their distance from the battle to avoid the drop?

Cagliari should be able to take the points here, given the form Palermo are bringing into this game. They’ve lost their last three in Serie A, while they’ve failed to win any of their last five matches. The one positive for them is that they’re managing to find the net. The Rosanero have averaged a goal a game so far, and they’ve found the net in every away game. They just need to start tightening up at the back in order to start picking up results, they’ve conceded 11 times in their last three. Given that they’ve scored 71% of the goals away from home, you’d expect them to get another on Monday night.

Cagliari have a downright awful defensive record, which gives the visitors even more of a chance of finding the net. The Sardinian side have the worst defence in Serie A, having conceded 23 goals in their 10 matches this season. That’s an average of 2.3 goals per game against them. It should be no surprise that they’ve seen quite a few goals in their games this term, their matches see just over four goals each on average. At least their fans are getting value for their season tickets.

One thing the Sardinians have going for them is their high scoring rate. They’ve managed to score in each half of 80% of their games at home. They’ve won 60% of their matches here, including three of the last four. With Palermo making this trip in awful form, it’s tempting to back the home side to win both halves in this clash. Cagliari to lead at half-time and full-time is priced at 8/5 with bet365.

However, we’re focusing on goals in this one. Cagliari have seen their last 11 games go above 2.5 goals. That’s a run which includes every game this season, plus it runs into their previous campaign. They’ve managed to find the net at least twice in their last six games at home, and this is a great chance to add to that. Both sides tend to see a lot of goals, so we’re backing over 2.5 here at 7/10 with bet365.

Cagliari have won three of their last six games at home to Palermo. The visitors have found the net in five consecutive visits to this stadium.

Palermo have conceded at least three in their last three league games. Both sides have scored in 80% of Cagliari’s home games, and 80% of Palermo’s away matches.

Cagliari are without Nicola Murru, Arthur Lonita and Joao Pedro here. Forward Diego Farias also misses out.

Palermo have a pretty extensive injury list. They’re missing Slobodan Rajkovic, Giancarlo Gonzalez and Simone Guiliano at the back. They’re also without Aleksandar Trajkovski, Accursio Bentivegna and the suspended Roland Sallai up front.

Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals at 7/10 with bet365
Correct Score Prediction: Cagliari to Win 3-2 at 22/1
