Milton Keynes Dons vs Barnsley Free Betting Tip & Preview

Karl Robinson\’s team aim for first ever FA Cup quarter-final berth. The hosts are enjoying their best-ever run in the national competition but will come up against an in-form Tykes side rejuvented by the appointment of David Flitcroft.

Tip: Milton Keynes Dons 1 – 2 Barnsley

Luke Chadwick is likely to start for MK Dons after making his first appearance since December as a substitute in the 0-0 draw with Doncaster following a knee injury.

Stephen Gleeson (foot) remains sidelined so loanee Ryan Harley will continue alongside Darren Potter in central midfield, while Alan Smith is set to lead the line in the absence of Patrick Bamford (hamstring), Izale McLeod (cup-tied) and Ryan Lowe (suspended). Antony Kay is also serving a ban.

Barnsley are in fine form and the only change manager David Flitcroft has made in the last three matches is replacing right wing-back John Stones, who joined Everton, with loan signing Rory Delap.

He could be tempted, however, to hand Jason Scotland a start in attack over Marlon Harewood after the former Ipswich striker scored for the third time in three games from the bench against Middlesbrough.

MK DONS: Martin, Otsemobor, MacKenzie, Williams, Lewington, Harley, Potter, Powell, Chadwick, Bowditch, Smith

BARNSLEY: Steele, Cranie, Foster, Kennedy, Delap, Etuhu, Perkins, Golbourne, O\’Brien, Dagnall, Scotland

Prediction: On the basis of league position, MK Dons have already faced two tougher ties than this in the FA Cup this season but neither QPR nor Sheffield Wednesday were in the kind of form Barnsley have enjoyed since the appointment of David Flitcroft. The Dons have struggled in League One in recent weeks and could find their normal passing game stifled by the Tykes\’ distinct formation. The confidence and momentum the visitors have picked up might lend them a decisive clinical edge in what should be a tightly contested affair.

Tip: Milton Keynes Dons 1 – 2 Barnsley
