Dinamo Zagreb vs Sevilla Predictions & Betting Tips

Dinamo Zagreb look to get off the mark in the Champions League when they face Sevilla on Tuesday. Our free betting predictions suggest that Sevilla’s defence will triumph again.

Dinamo Zagreb have never really made much of an impact on the continental stage, but their dominance in domestic football has been almost unparalleled. That’s all changed this season though. The departure of the likes of Marko Pjaca, Josip Berkalo, Marcelo Brozovic, and Marko Rog have left them light in the talent department and they’ve suffered a dreadful start to the season.

This resulted in the sacking of manager Zlatko Kranjcar after under three months in charge, but it hasn’t helped much. New boss Ivaylo Petev took charge after their 4-0 thrashing at home to Juventus at the end of September, and in the two matches since then, he’s dropped two points at home to Hajduk Split and managed an edgy 1-0 win at Slaven Koprivnica on Friday.

This is not the form you expect from Dinamo Zagreb, and it truly looks like they are a team in crisis at the moment. Their ridiculous six year run of unbeaten games in home league games came to an end when they suffered a humiliating 5-2 defeat at Rijeka. In the Champions League they have lost 3-0 against Lyon and 4-0 at home to Juventus.

Sevilla will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing off against Dinamo Zagreb at the moment. The Spaniards have enjoyed a successful start to their Champions League campaign with a draw at Juventus and a 1-0 win at home to Lyon. This puts them 2nd in the group, and with Lyon and Juventus both vying for qualification they know that every point counts.

The visitors come into this game having won four of their last five in all competitions as well and fresh off the back of a dramatic 3-2 victory at Leganes on Saturday. Star strikers Wissam Ben Yedder and Luciano Vietto didn’t find the net in this game, but they have seven goals in all competitions between them, and Ben Yedder has found the net three times in his last three games. He’s bound to be a thorn in the side of a Zagreb side who have conceded seven in their two Champions League games this term.

Sevilla have proven very difficult to break down in Europe this season, with back to back clean sheets against much better attacking sides than Dinamo Zagreb. The Croatians have only scored nine goals in their last eight games in all competitions, and five of those came in a single match. They have failed to score in four of their last eight. This makes odds of 11/8 for Sevilla to Win to Nil look a good value backing, so I’m going for that along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 11/2.

This will be the first meeting between these sides.

Dinamo Zagreb have failed to score in 50% of their last eight matches, including 100% of their Champions League outings. Sevilla have kept a clean sheet in both of their European outings this season.

Centre back Marko Leskovic is still out with a foot injury, whilst midfielder Arijan Ademi remains banned.

Goalkeeper David Soria, centre back duo Adil Rami and Daniel Carrico, left back Benoit Tremoulinas, winger Mickael Krohn-Dehli, and striker Carlos Fernandez are all sidelined for Sevilla. Interestingly, all but two of these injuries are problems with the knee.
