Celtic tie not over yet, says Pirlo

Juventus must not think they are through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite having taken a 3-0 first leg lead over Celtic, Andrea Pirlo has said.

The Serie A leaders won comfortably at Parkhead on Tuesday, but Pirlo warned his team-mates that \”miracles happen\” and said they needed to remain on their guard for the second leg in Turin.

He was a member of the AC Milan side that lost the 2005 Champions League final to Liverpool after having been 3-0 up, and said that experience had taught him that no opponents should be written off.

\”I\’ve been in football long enough to know miracles can happen,\” he said. \”I can still remember the Champions League final against Liverpool. Liverpool scored three goals in just a half, whereas Celtic have a whole game.

\”Of course we have put ourselves in a great position and, after a win like that, we expect to go through – but it would be dangerous to consider that the tie is won.\”

Celtic, who felt they should have been awarded two penalties for manhandling by Juventus defenders at set pieces, said they would try to draw inspiration from Liverpool\’s fightback in that Istanbul final.

Defender Kelvin Wilson said: \”You have to remember anything can happen in football.

\”Look at Liverpool – they were 3-0 down in the final and came back to win it against a great Milan side. We\’re not going to write it off.\”
